M1 – Projekt: Sustainable Hoogcruts

Die ehemalige Klosteranlage von Hoogcruts in der Nähe der niederländischen Gemeinde Gulpen befindet sich in einem Umbauprozess. Beauftragt durch die Stiftung Landschaft Limburg, die Eigentümerin der Anlage, begleitet die Agentur HX die Konsolidierung der Anlage und gestaltet eine Übergangszeit mit zahlreichen Zwischennutzungen. In enger Abstimmung mit HX möchten wir im Verlauf des M1 – Projekts die Programmdiskussion vor Ort befördern und innovative Vorschläge für die zukünftige Nutzung des Ortes entwickeln. Vor herausragender Bedeutung ist dabei die geografische Lage von Hoogcruts. Der Ort ist von den Architekturschulen von Maastricht, Hasselt, Lüttich und Aachen gleichermaßen gut erreichbar und bietet ideale Voraussetzung für gemeinsame Bauexperimente. Bei unseren Vorschlägen zum behutsamen Umbau der Klosteranlage möchten wir vor allem die euregionale Dimension der Ortsentwicklung im Blick behalten.

The former abbey of Hoogcruts near the Dutch town of Gulpen is currently being redeveloped. HX, a Maastricht based planning agency, has been mandated by the owner of the place, the Landscape Foundation of Limburg. HX has been charged to conduct preliminary restoration, and to envision a series of temporary uses. In close cooperation with HX, we intend to develop innovative proposals, which are likely to nurture the discussion about the future of Hoogcruts. The geographic position of the place is of outstanding importance. The ancient abbey can be easily reached from architectural schools of Maastricht, Hasselt, Liège and Aachen, and offers ideal conditions for communal building experiments. When developing proposals for a wary retrofitting of the ancient abbey, we shall keep in mind the euregional dimension of the place.
