Stegreif / Impromptu Architekturtheorie: “Sensory architecture”
Sustainable things are things to which we attach lasting value; things with which we feel permanently connected. Fundamental to this connection is the sensory appearance of things. We ask about the sensory qualities of sustainable materials: What acoustic, visual, olfactory and haptic stimuli emanate from materials such as clay, stone, hemp, straw, etc.? How do we perceive sustainable materials? The task of the impromptu is to design a micro-architecture that invites visitors to experience the sensory qualities of matter. The test pavilion is to be designed as the German contribution to the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
