Like environmental design, architecture depends on environmental knowledge, which ecology can provide. Ecology highlights dynamic relationships because the balances in the oikos are usually fluid. These balances arise from seasonal fluctuations and the complex relationships between living systems and their environments. Under the conditions of an escalating climate crisis, ecological balances undergo a stress test. This has consequences for how people think and act within the spaces where they plan, produce, and use their dwellings and living environments.

In architecture, the concept of seriality manifests itself in various ways, such as the repetitive structuring of facades, modular support systems, and more abstract concepts, like typology.
In this impromptu presentation, we will focus on the exceptions, anomalies, special cases, and extreme points of serial systems rather than on their regularity.

We recognize a series when similar elements are in a recognizable context. A series is not an object, but rather a method, procedure, or system that creates or represents a connection between things. We also encounter the concept of seriality today. Seriality is intended to speed up construction processes and reduce costs. Serial processes aim to produce sustainable building components in large quantities.
The M1 project’s task is to design an exhibition that presents and discusses historical and current aspects of serial construction.
