The Lehmbaugarten is located in Aachen-Seffent, behind the shock wave laboratory of RWTH Aachen University. The garden has been a place for experiments for more than forty years. The structures – pavilions and domes made of clay – are constantly being repaired, reworked or completely replaced by new buildings. This year it is the turn of the pavilion, previously used as a shelter for tools and equipment. The impromptu task is to design an open structure that can be erected with simple means and a small budget; one that offers protection from the weather and space to work.
